ABOUT

Finished his degree in Media and Communication Systems with a minor in Management of Performing Arts in Istanbul Bilgi University in 2018. For his “C-LAB” final project, he produced a documentary named “Sephardic Music: From Authentic Songs To Records and Arrangements”. During his undergraduate degree, he took his basic musical training from Güç BaÅŸar Gülle and studied vocal and ear training with Nazım Kerkez. He also took elective courses from the Music program in the university and thus studied Jazz Composition with Tolga Tüzün, Orchestration and Modal Harmony with Tolga Zafer Özdemir, Song Writing with BaÅŸak Yavuz and Ensemble with Sumru Ağıryürüyen, all leading musicians and music academics in Turkey. After graduating, he performed with his own jazz quartet and gave private music and piano lessons. In 2019, he got accepted to Codarts Rotterdam Conservatory in the Netherlands and for a year, has studied Jazz Composition with Paul van Brugge and electronic composition with René Uijlenhoet. Having to move back to Turkey due to the pandemic, he started doing a Master’s degree on Composition in Istanbul Technical University’s “Centre for Advanced Studies in Music”. In August 2021, he won the “Young Jazz” competition organised by Istanbul Jazz Festival and was entitled to perform in the festival with the band “Cazcuz”, as well as being included in the "Young Jazz 21" album, produced by Istanbul Jazz Festival and Sony Music Turkey, with his original song, "Unknown is the Truth". Currently, he is working on his Master's thesis with Eray Altınbüken as his advisor, focusing on the intersection of jazz and contemporary classical music. He is also writing official transcriptions of the songs by the renowned pop singer Sezen Aksu, while teaching piano, solfége and music theory privately, being busy with his own projects, receiving freelance musical works and performing with several bands in the Istanbul music scene.
